The Route 66 Sprint Series presented by MG Tires and Franklin Motorsports is proud to release its competition schedule for 2018. The Midwest based series continues to be true to its racers and will once again focus on the Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana tracks. This year, the schedule will feature 20% more fun, as the program is expanded to six weekends.
Mark Coats, Series Owner commented, “With other major traveling sprint series choosing to focus on the eastern United States in 2018, many of our racers asked us to add another event in the Midwest, so they could forgo the travel required to compete in the East. We feel like Route 66 is a great program and we’re more than happy to oblige.”
The Route 66 Sprint Series will open at the fast and furious New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, IN on April 27-29, 2018. NCMP has been part of the Route 66 schedule for many years and is always a great place to kick off a fresh season.
May is a busy school month, so the series left it open for families and will reconvene with Round 2 at the newly repaved CTECH Manufacturing Motorplex at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, WI on June 29 – July 1, 2018. The Motorplex has been the site of many epic karting battles and its elevation changes and twisty bits have all been repaved and new curbing installed.
Michiana Raceway Park (MRP) in North Liberty, IN will be the site of Round 3 on July 20-22, 2018. MRP is conveniently located just south of South Bend, IN and I-80 and is another racer favorite, with elevation changes, and a high speed front stretch.
For Round 4, Route 66 welcomes an old friend back to the program. Concept Haulers Motor Speedway in Norway, IL is back on the schedule on August 17-19, 2018. The 7/10 mile of CHMS has some crazy fast sections, super tight hard corners, monster curbing, and even a bridge!
Wolf Paving Raceway, home of the Badger Kart Club, in Dousman, WI will host Round 5 on September 7-9, 2018. Badger’s recently expanded track lead to some great racing excitement in its 2017 debut and the Series is looking forward to hitting it again in 2018.
The final round of competition for 2018 will be back at Mid-State Kart Club in Springfield, IL on October 5-7, 2018. An early fall wrap up at the friendly confines of MSKC amongst friends will be a great way to decide championships and bid farewell to another great season of kart racing.
